What would you do if your Dog needed CPR?  Do you know how to do it?  No … I didn’t think so.

Well, here is a site that shows you a video of exactly what to do in an emergency.  All dog owners should watch this.  It is featured on  a website called OhMiDog.  It’s a four minute lesson taught by Elaine Acker, CEO of Pets America.

We are very excited to let you know about a site we just discovered called Healthy Stuff.  It’s a site that gives you immediate access to research done on Pet products and Toys, including pet beds.  The site is extremely easy to use and the information is presented in a simple coding system with graphics even a dog could understand.  It shows which products contain lead, arsenic, cadmium, chlorine, mercury and bromine and to what degree it is present in that product.

At HealthyStuff.org you can search by product, by brand or level of concern, for example, your concern of lead in a product. There’s even a spot to “tweet” the results you’ve found so you can quickly share the info with your contacts and friends.

It is certainly no wonder that so many pets develop cancer these days, with all the dangerous chemicals in products pets use on a daily basis.  But with this website, we all can benefit by choosing products and toys for our dogs, cats and other pets that we know have the least amount of toxic chemicals.  Please be sure to spread this info on to friends and family. Hey, doggeros … just heard Mik talking about this Pet Summary thingie .. I was bad sick the other day and Mik was so happy he had used Pet Summary.  Your caretaker gets a card with all all your important info, shots, etc, on a card to carry in their wallet.  But we were traveling and Mik forgot to keep his card with him this time.   But with Pet Summary, they keep your info on the website so Mik just printed out a copy to show to the Vet.  Actually, I guess the vets can just go there themselves and get the info with the login info your master provides.

The Pet Summary card displays:

• A picture of your pet
• Your contact information
• All of your pet’s medical conditions, allergies, and current medications
• Your pet’s daily routine and dietary requirements
• Veterinary and Emergency contact names and information

Hey .. here’s a great recipe for some Beefy Dog Biscuits … get your owner to make you some!!

Beefy Biscuits
2 cups whole wheat or all purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4cup wheat germ
2 teaspoon beef bouillon powder
1/2 teaspoon yeast extract (adds additional meaty flavour)

Mix above ingredients in a medium bowl.

Add: 1 large egg, 1 tablespoon cooking oil and 1 cup hot water.

Stir well. Roll out on a well-floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Place on ungreased cooking sheet. Bake on center rack, (275 F. or 140 C) for about 2 hours until dry and very hard. Let stand overnight to dry thoroughly. Makes 10 big bones and 14 puppy bones.

Gourmet Sleuth

Okay, okay, I saw the list …  so now I see that I should stop begging for all the Human food!   I had no idea that so many foods could cause me so many problemos. . .  or even kill me!

This great list can be found on the Pet Education site, a site with info from Vets.  So, okay, I guess I’ll believe it!  No more fat trimmings for me … don’t want pancreatitis.  Better pass this on to my buddies and print a list for Mik.  I know he hasn’t read about some of these foods.

Accidents do happen … even to us Dogs … I should know.  Just last week I stepped on a piece of glass that was in the grass and was I happy that Mik had this nifty First Aid Kit close by.  I mean, my paw was bleeding so bad, I thought I was going to pass out!  But Mik whipped out some antiseptic cleaner and took care of it pronto.

This is a great kit to have for home and in the car, when you get to go on outings with the family.  Everything you might possibly need … all together.   All of these things come in your First Aid Kit:

Good Grief!  My master, Mik, just read that you can’t feed grapes or raisins to Dogs.  He said they could kill us!  And I love grapes … well, actually, I’ll eat just about anything … really now, I’m a Lab!

My family never, ever lets me have Chocolate … they always said it could make me deathly ill.  But gosh, they never knew about those grapes … guess it’s good they found out before it was TOO late!  I also heard them talking about Sugarless Gum.  Apparently it causes a life-threatening drop in blood pressure, followed by liver failure.  I guess I won’t be sneaking any of that!

So, I just wanted to let you little Buddies know about this.  Remember, No grapes, raisins, chocolate or sugarless gum.
